The grapes are sourced 100% from Barossa Valley Shiraz, hand-picked from three very small 1850's planting's in the Barossa. 2004 was a fine sunny year with mild temperatures and low water demand.

Matured for 24 months in a combination of new to 5 year old French and American oak, the wine has a deep opaque purple black colour. It displays rich tobacco, pepper and sweet vanilla aromas with complex notes of cedar and pine-nut emerging. Charming plump ripe fruit flavours of quince and salted plum is gracefully balanced with lively acidity and soft dry tannin.

This youthful wine shows interesting complex notes of chocolate and cinnamon typical of grapes from these very old Shiraz vines. Shows wonderful finesse and will build with time. Great cellaring potential.
